Sunrisers Hyderabad’ New Head Coach: Sunrisers released the Brian Lara and get appointed former RCB captain Daniel Vettori as their head coach for the next season of IPL. Vettori will take this position over from former West Indies captain Brian Lara. Lara was former head coach of SRH, earlier he was removed from the post after the team’s poor performance in last season. The Sunrisers Hyderabad team last reached the IPL playoffs in 2020 season.
Since IPL 2021, Sunrisers have won only 13 matches while 29 matches have been defeated. Since SRH becoming champions in 2016, the Sunrisers (SRH) team had successful to reach the playoffs every time till IPL 2020, but the team have been failed to repeat same success since then. Now under the leadership of Vettori, Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise will be hoping to get back to the top four in IPL 2024 season.
When was Brian Lara appointed for Sunrisers Hyderabad? Lara was appointed as Sunrisers head coach in the 2023 IPL season in place of Tom Moody. But with Lara the team finished last of the point table (tenth number) with four wins and ten losses.
Sunrisers changed fourth head coaches in six seasons who named as Tom Moody (IPL 2019 and 2022), Trevor Bayliss (2020 and 2021), and Brian Lara (2023) now with the Vettori for next season.
Vettori’s Coaching Experiences
Former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori has a lot of coaching experience. Vettori was the former coach of RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) in the IPL from 2014 till 2018 season and the assistant coach of the Australia men’s team. He has also previously been the spin bowling consultant of the Bangladesh team. Currently, Vettori is the head coach of the Birmingham Phoenix men’s team in England’s T20 League ‘The Hundred’. Daniel Vettori to pair up with Markram – Vettori will be supported by Aiden Markram is the captain of the team.

It will be second time for Vettori to become the head coach of the IPL team. He has coached RCB team in the IPL from 2014 to 2018. Daniel Vettori helped RCB reach to the playoffs in 2015 and the final in IPL 2016 season. Incidentally, RCB had lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2016 final.
Sunrisers Hyderabad flopped badly in the last three seasons (2021-2023)
In the last three seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) team has fallen on its face. In the year 2021, the Sunrisers team ended the league at the bottom and out of 14 matches, the team could win only 3. And in IPL 2022, the SRH team could won 6 out of 14 matches played, while the team had to face defeat in 8 matches. In 2023 season again the team remains flopped badly and could win only 4 out of 14 matches played.
Three teams changed their coaches before the 2024 season
Sunrisers Hyderabad team became the third franchise to change their head coach. Earlier, Lucknow Supergiants has appointed Justin Langer as head coach in place of Andy Flower. RCB handed over the responsibility of teams head coach to the Andy Flower in place of Sanjay Bangar. Now the Sunrisers appointed former Kiwi captain Daniel Vettori as the head coach of IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad by replacing the Brian Lara. On 7th August, Monday the SRH announced the appointment of Vettori as head coach through a social post (Tweet).
