This match was very exciting where no player was ready to back down in this clash. A total of 71 shots were seen in the third match.
This was the second encounter between India’s Prannoy and China’s Wang Hong Yang, whereas Prannoy has defeated Wang Hong Yang in his first encounter of the international circuit in the Malaysia Masters 2022. HS Prannoy won the Malaysia Masters title by winning three games in that match. Rajawat also has been the champion of Orleans Masters.

In the quarterfinals, Prannoy defeated Indonesia’s Anthony Sinisuka Ginting 16-21, 21-17, 21-14 to secure his place in the semi-finals. This was for the first time when Rajawat had reached the semi-finals of a Super 500 tournament. Then in the semi-finals, HS Prannoy defeated India’s Priyanshu Rajawat by ending it 21-18, 21-12. Finally make its journey to the final of Australian Open Badminton 2023. Where World number 9 player Prannoy lost the men’s singles final to China’s Wang Hong Yang in a thrilling three-game match. Prannoy had to settle for a silver medal.
